Thank you for installing OSBooster. This document briefly discusses the steps you need to take in order to get OSBooster running on your Macintosh computer. The installer does as much configuration as it can, but you need to complete a few tasks before you can fully benefit from OSBoosterェ.
We recommend that you print out this document.
The installer places various files in your System Folder. These will differ depending on which system version and extensions manager you are using.
If you are using Apple's Extensions Manager on System 7.6 or later, the installer will create an Extensions set called 'OSBooster'. When the installer has finished, it will launch Extensions Manager, you must select the OSBooster set from Extension Manager's pop-up menu. □You may get a message saying that there are extensions installed in this set that are not installed on your computer. Would you like to save information about the missing extensions ? You should click 'Cancel'. The purpose of the OSBooster extensions set is to define a minimum set of extensions OSBooster should use when taking control of the Macintosh. Any extensions or control panels that are unknown to OSBooster will be left turned 'on'. You should turn off any that you do no need when running OSBooster. Howvever, you should ensure that any graphics card drivers are turned on. Additionally, if you are planning on playing games, you may want to ensure that drivers for your input peripherals are enabled. Please see the OSBooster User Guide for more detailed information about setting up this extensions set.
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, YOU MUST SET EXTENSIONS MANAGER BACK TO ITS DEFAULT EXTENSIONS SET. DO NOT LEAVE OSBOOSTER AS THE ACTIVE SET.
If you are using Conflict Catcher version 8, the installer will not install an OSBooster set. When the installer has finished installing the software it will launch Conflict Catcher. You should now create a minimum set of extensions following the guidelines in the User Guide. The OSBooster Extension should only be enabled in the OSBooster extensions set. In order to launch OSBooster, you must give the OSBooster extensions set a 'start-up' key. Hold down this key at start-up and Conflict Catcher will launch OSBooster for you.
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED, YOU MUST SET CONFLICT CATCHER BACK TO ITS DEFAULT EXTENSIONS SET. DO NOT LEAVE OSBOOSTER AS THE ACTIVE SET.
If you are using OSBooster with a non-English version of the system software, you will find that the OSBooster extensions set installed is only partially relevant to the contents of your system folder. This is because the Extensions Manager identifies extensions by name and many extensions have localised names. You will need to translate the information given in the User Guide in order to fully customise the OSBooster extensions set.
When you have finished altering your extensions set. you must restart your computer before running OSBooster.
